Warm welcome. Great food..beautiful old building..hence my one little downside. Could smell damp in walls ..where we ate our food was fine but bar area could do with a little intervention. But I appreciate how difficult the work would be to rectify given the age and shape of the interior walls. Would still recommend tho..food was delightful..Best burger I've had in years

Lovely service. Staff were so friendly. We visited at the end of Sunday lunch service, unannounced with a party of 8 and 3 dogs! We all ordered sandwiches, the Brie and cranberry was amazing, the people's that had the chicken club loved that too. Fab homemade chips. Easy to park, we were right outside. Would absolutely visit again if we are in the area.

This is a gem of a pub, off the beaten track! Booked an evening meal on the basis of the ratings and we weren't disappointed. It hasn't been turned into a soul-less gastropub, retains a 'local' feel, yet the food and customer service is right up there. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food/beer is spot-on. Really good value for money (compared to southern prices), freshly cooked (so it won't arrive immediately), tasty and piping hot. Our recommendations are the game pie, fish & chips, and the burgers. It was so good, we rebooked for a second sitting!

Great atmosphere and very helpful. There is a wide range of food at different price points. They were very accommodating to out vegan requests and we had a great filling. Our serves was very helpful in letting us know about all the options. The outside garden area was perfect for a few pints afterwards and a good game.

My girlfriend and I stayed here a few weekends ago for a hiking trip/break away. The staff are wonderful, they were really helpful and genuinely cared about our experience. Seemed like genuinely lovely people. The building itself is quaint, a tiny cottage-like pub with rooms upstairs. The pretentious may struggle here but for us it was absolutely perfect, and really fitted the mood of a technology-free weekend away! They had good vegan options for breakfast and dinner which was pleasantly surprising, the bed was comfy, the location is extremely quiet and out of the way. Not far from some of the best walks in the Lakes which was why we originally booked here, and we would absolutely stay here again. For those that aren’t after a 5* luxury stay I couldn’t recommend The Black Cock Inn enough. Great name too!

Amazing food and a nice pint. Very dog friendly too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit again. There steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've ever tasted. Top marks.

Great little pub, service was fantastic, menu was very good with a nice variety of classic English dishes. Parking is only a stones throw away in the village square, just a short walk up from the pub itself, would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants nice "pub grub" and a cold beer. Will definitely be stopping off again ! 5*****

We've just returned from a 2 night stay as part of a Wowcher deal. Despite being understaffed, those that were present gave brilliant customer service all round. We had both breakfast and an evening meal which were both very nice. Our room was basic but comfortable and clean. The staff really make this place. They are friendly, helpful and attentive. Thank you for our stay
